Dick2.jpg

Dick Lee - clarinets, saxes, recorders, composition

Dick’s musical career spans half a century, and in that time it has included classical, rock, jazz, traditional, and much that does not fit easily into any particular category. He has received a Creative Scotland Award and the Marty Paich Award and was the winner of the Scottish Schools of Excellence Composers' Competition.

Examples of Dick's music and more info can be found on his Youtube channel:

Dave has been a mainstay of the Scottish jazz scene since 1968, when he was Scottish Schools Champion Solo Pipe Band Drummer, and has since played with everyone who is anyone, from Tam White to Alan Barnes to Dick Lee :-)

Anne studied in Edinburgh, Vienna and London and has a varied career performing both on flute and piano throughout the UK, Europe and the Far East.

She was a member of Mike Maran's hugely successful stage adaptation of Captain Corelli's Mandolin, performing to sell-out audiences throughout Britain and Hong Kong. She is a regular performer at the Edinburgh Fringe as a member of Philip Contini's Be Happy Band.

When Phil moved to Scotland in 1990 he joined Swing 90 and played with them, along with Dick, until 2002. More recently he and Dick are the two halves of The Sappers, featuring the big-band sound of acoustic guitar and clarinet. A banjo materialized in his cupboard sometime during the last decade, and has been witnessed in flagrante on the waters of the Firth of Forth and at the Royal Highland Show, among other salubrious venues.

He is the regular guitarist with the Edinburgh Jazz Bar Big Band and the Pell Octet and is leader and MD of the Pitchblenders.

Jerry started his playing career with Bill Salmond’s Louisiana Ragtime band in 1979, also playing with Jim Petrie’s bands, the West End Jazz band and others up until 1982 when he joined Swing 82, with whom he played hundreds of gigs including on their trips to China and the Eindhoven Jazz festival.

He plays in and leads Jerry Forde’s New Phoenix Jazz Band.
